HELP FOR ENTERING SEARCHES:

Under the heading "Search description for:" we now have four entries. Remember that whatever you enter in any of the entries has to be true for the item or items you wish to display. I will explain each below:

• all these - Any words you enter must appear in the description of the item. Each word must be separated by a space.
• exact phrase - What you enter has to appear in the description of the item exactly as you typed it including any spaces or punctuation!
• at least one of - At least one of the words you enter has to appear in the description of the item. Each word must be separated by a space.
• none of these - If any of the words you enter appear in the description, it will not be displayed! Each word must be separated by a space.

Our inventory(plate) number appears above the graphic display once the "Submit" button has been clicked - when you know this number for the image you may enter it at the "Part number" entry. Be sure you set the "Listing Type" to None and the "City or location" to blank-the "Reset" button will accomplish this. The "Years" entries work directly with the circa years I have on most of the images-so if you wish, to have only 1900 through 1910 images displayed, you would enter 1900 in the first spot and 1910 in the second spot.

We now store the date that we enter new items on our database. The entry box titled: After (mm/dd/yyyy) allows you to utilize this information. Example: Today is January 1 2005 and you would like to only show the items we have entered on and after December 1 2004. You would enter 12/01/2004.

BIRTHDAY FUN: I now list thousands of first day covers. If you would like to find which ones were issued on your birtday, if any, do this: Type in as much of your birtday date as you like in the "exact phrase" entry, for instance "december 01 1945" - you then would be shown all the fdc's I have that came out on that day. If you wished only to know how many were issued on 12/1, then you would type "december 01" without the year. This would find you all the stamps issued on December 1 of any year. One note, be sure to use the leading zero on single digit days, for instance "December 1" would be "december 01". DO NOT type in the quotes nor a comma after the day! Have fun!

STAMPS & COVERS: We use the Scott® numbering system. To find a particular number enter the following as an example "scott number" in the "exact phrase" entry and "1274" in the "all these" entry - this would find you all the stamps I have listed for that Scott® number. If you wish to just find say Plate Blocks, then use the scroll under the "Listing Type" and either scroll to what you like or type the letter "s" repeatedly until the type you wish is displayed! If you wish to see the items currently for sale click the "In Store" button. After all criteria is entered, click the "Submit" button. Many of the first day cover cachet makers were identified using the Planty and Mellone series of books on the subject. NOTE: If a stamp has short or trimmed perfs, it will be mentioned in the description. Otherwise it can safely be assumed they were trimmed in the scan!
